“Can I Be Honest?” will take attendees on a transformative artistic journey.

“Can I Be Honest?” by the talented artist known as ScreetArt, is an exploration of life, identity, and resilience through the captivating medium of art. In this exhibition, ScreetArt, the enigmatic founder of ArtViaYou, takes a courageous leap, revealing his personal story and creative journey.  The exhibition is set to take place on 7th December 2023 at Old Street Gallery, 62 St. Paul Street, EC2A 4DQ, London, UK.

For years, he concealed his identity, fearing that his complex past might clash with his artistic pursuits.

However, his original vision for ArtViaYou was always to build a brand powerful enough to one day unveil his true self. After four years of dedicated work, he’s now ready to showcase his very first solo exhibition.

This exhibition is more than just a collection of artwork; it’s a testament to the power of transformation.

The attendees will have the privilege of delving into ScreetArt’s past, beautifully conveyed through his art, with the skilled guidance of the curator, Joseph Ijoyemi from the collective makers. Additionally, they will be treated to a documentary screening that traces the remarkable journey from the inception of ArtViaYou to the present day.

The documentary “Can I Be Honest?” provides an intimate look into the life of Eraste Muaka, the visionary behind ArtViaYou.

It’s a narrative of triumph over adversity and the empowerment of emerging artists. Eraste’s debut solo exhibition is a symbol of his resilience, offering a unique opportunity to witness his extraordinary artistic odyssey.

Through his art, Eraste invites people to explore the intricacies of his life’s journey, emotions, and personal growth. Born into a world of faith as the son of a pastor, he was simultaneously entangled in the gritty underground culture of gangs and crime.

His artwork uncovers surprising parallels between these seemingly disparate worlds.

Eraste delves into the compelling idea that both gang members and Christians possess unwavering belief systems, each with its unique code of honor and unspoken rules.

Having experienced both church and prison life, he masterfully blurs the lines between right and wrong, prompting viewers to question their own moral compass.

His art serves as a mesmerising portal, offering glimpses into a world where choices are limited and one’s environment shapes destinies.

It challenges societal norms and sparks conversations about the intricate complexities of human existence. Get ready for a thought-provoking and visually stunning experience that will leave a lasting impression.
