On the evening of December 4th, the three-day 17th Congress of the World Federation of Hainanese Associations concluded in Guangzhou. At the closing ceremony, representatives of the 17th Congress handed over the congress shield and flag to The Federation Of Hainan Association Malaysia. The President of The Federation Of Hainan Association Malaysia, Lin Qiuya, extended an invitation to compatriots both in China and abroad, expressing hope to meet again with them in Malaysia in 2025.

This congress, themed “Great Integration of the Harbor, Sharing New Opportunities,” attracted over 2,300 Hainanese representatives from 45 hometown associations across 32 countries and regions. The congress featured a series of enriching and exciting activities for networking and exchange, including the Global Investment Promotion for the Hainan Free Trade Port, Hainan Free Trade Port and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Integrated Development Forum, World Hainan Overseas Chinese Leaders Roundtable, World Summit of Haishang, World Hainan Youth Forum, and World Hainan Women’s Forum. These events successfully achieved the goals of enhancing friendships, promoting integration, strengthening cooperation, and jointly fostering development

Li Zhuozhang, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Hainan Association Of Guangdong and the Chief Commissioner of the Supervisory Committee of The 17th Congress of the World Federation of Hainanese Associations, read the joint communique of the congress. He called on the vast number of overseas Hainanese associations and compatriots to make new contributions to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He urged local associations to pay attention to and innovate in the construction of youth organizations and encouraged them to assist and encourage young people who have achieved academic success and wish to expand their careers to return to their hometowns to participate in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port. He suggested increasing planning efforts, creating brands, actively promoting interconnectivity and visits among various Hainanese associations, and advancing multi-field, deep-level, and high-quality cooperation.

Wang Shitong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and head of The United Front Work Department of CPC Guangzhou Committee, stated in his speech that this congress has synergistically advanced the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, nurturing new opportunities for cooperation between Hainan, Guangdong, and Guangzhou in various fields including economy and culture.

Kang Baiying, the Executive Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of Hainan Provincial Committee, expressed that the more than 2,300 Hainanese compatriots attending the congress brought with them deep sentiments from all around the world to meet in their hometown, reflecting their common aspiration of being connected to their homeland and fostering hometown fellowship. She mentioned that The Congress of the World Federation of Hainanese Associations is like a home for all compatriots, and Hainan is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with overseas hometown associations, working together towards the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Hainan will strive to provide quality services for compatriots, create a favorable development environment, fully support their entrepreneurship in Hainan, and share the development opportunities of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
