Joint Initiative on Promoting the Standard Design and Application of 700W+ PV Modules

December 26
18:15 2023

December 18, 2023 – Over the past decades, China’s photovoltaic (PV) industry has weathered numerous challenges, and through continuous technological innovation and scale expansion, has become one of the most competitive and influential sectors globally, significantly contributing to the development of clean energy worldwide. In the last decade, the industry has explored the potential of the manufacturing supply chain and PV systems, elevating the power of individual modules from an initial 100W+ to 700W+ nowadays. Increasing the efficiency and power of modules to reduce the LCOE has become an inevitable trend driving the industry forward.

Based on the standardized design scheme of 700W+ ultra-high power modules of each unit, along with the standard of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association “T/CPIA 0003-2022 Technical Requirements for the External Dimensions and Installation Holes of Ground-used Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules”, we hereby jointly propose: The design of the 700W+ PV modules shall continue to follow the existing standard specification for dimensions and installation holes (module dimensions 2,384mm×1,303mm, long-side installation hole distances of 400mm and 1,400mm), with additional 790mm hole position. At the same time, the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain shall explore more efficient and advanced technologies and application solutions to jointly drive the sustainable development of the PV industry.

With the development and application of the n-type high-efficiency solar cell technologies (such as TOPCon and HJT) and the large-size G12 silicon wafer technologies, PV modules have been upgraded from 600W+ to 700W+. The comprehensive promotion for the standardization and industrialization of ultra-high power and efficiency PV modules enables significant development space and value for businesses throughout the industrial chain. This achievement optimizes the scale effects, streamlines supply, increases production efficiency, reduces industrial chain costs, further maximizes industrial value, lowers LCOE, and maximizes value at the application end, contributing to the “dual carbon” goals.
