As the holiday season approaches, Ken’s Hardwood Barbecue, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity joins hands for the fifth consecutive year to extend a helping hand to the hungry and unhoused in the Tucson area. On Christmas Day, they convene at Santa Rita Park to provide a hot, delicious meal, free of charge, to those in need.
The Big Red Mobile Kitchen, symbolizing the unity of these organizations, will be on-site to serve and share the warmth of the season with the community. This annual event embodies the true spirit of Christmas by bringing nourishment and a sense of community to individuals who may be facing hardship during the holiday season.
This commitment to selfless service has a rich history deeply rooted in the heart of Ken’s family. In 2000, Ken Alexander’s mother initiated a program in Jeffersonville, IN, known as the King’s Table, dedicated to feeding the hungry and unhoused in the community. This remarkable program, born out of compassion and love for the community, continues to serve its residents to this day.
