PreTeen with Vitiligo Wins National Pageant

Miss Mallory Habstritt, a vitiligo awareness advocate and daughter of Brett and Annalee Habstritt of Orono, Minnesota, earned the prestigious title of the 2023-2024 National All-American Miss Pre-Teen at the National American Miss National Pageant held in Orlando, Florida during Thanksgiving week.  Mallory Habstritt, representing her home city of Minneapolis, will receive more than $15,000 in cash and prizes throughout the year of her reign! Mallory’s older sister, Meredith, also won a National Title at this pageant. Sisters both winning has only happened once before (in 2006).

The National American Miss Pageants are devoted to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the National American Miss Pageants awards 1.5 million in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide. National American Miss is dedicated to developing the success of young women across our nation with a program that is designed to be age-appropriate and family-oriented. Pageants are held in each state for girls ages four to twenty-four in six different age divisions The National American Miss Pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future! Girls at the national level competed in Community Service, Resume Building, Personal Interview, Public Speaking and Presentation in Formal Wear. 

Miss Habstritt’s activities include ballet dancing, WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Inclusivity leader, downhill skiing, Yearbook Staff, Crochet Club, Wake Surfing, Rowing Crew. Her platform is vitiligo advocacy through the Global Vitiligo Foundation and Minnesota VitFriends. She won the International Speech contest at the pageant for her speech titled: Love the Skin You’re In. She has represented Fairview Health as a Featured Patient and was the only Youth Speaker at the World Vitiligo Day Conference 2022. Her book, published by local publisher, WiseInk, “Angel’s Big Splash”, will release in 2024. Mallory is 13 years old and is in the 8th grade.
